Auto Edit Videos lets your users edit video footage using plain-language instructions. Users describe the edit they want, attach a video, and the system produces the result automatically. It is accessible from the side menu under Auto Edit Videos.
Requirements
- Installation: Install Auto Edit Videos from the Marketplace.
- API Key: A Rendley API key is required.
Activation
Before your users can generate edits, complete the following steps:
- Install: Go to Marketplace and install Auto Edit Videos.
- Add API Key: Go to Admin → Settings → Auto Edit Videos and enter your Rendley API key. Click Test connection to verify it is working.
- Configure Public Media URL (if needed): If your site is not publicly reachable on the internet (e.g. a staging or intranet environment), enter a public mirror or CDN prefix in the Public media URL field. Rendley downloads every uploaded file over the public internet — a local or .test address will not work and uploads will be refused before they reach Rendley. Leave this field empty when your site is publicly accessible.
- Enable on Plans: Go to Finance → Pricing Plans, select each plan that should include Auto Edit Videos, and enable it.
Getting Started
Navigate to Auto Edit Videos from the side menu. The page shows the edit input at the top and a grid of recent edited videos below. The session counter at the top left shows how many editing sessions have been used.
How to Edit a Video
1. Attach a video
Click the + button to attach a video. Two options are available:
- Upload files — Upload a video file directly from your device
- Add from URL — Paste a direct link to a video file
2. Describe the edit
Type the edit instruction in the text field. Describe exactly what should happen to the video in plain language. Examples from the live platform:
- “Cut this interview into a 90 second highlight reel, remove the silences, add captions and background music”
- “Make it a cinematic shot and add background music and add LIVE on the right screen”
- “Add captions in red and yellow background”
- “Add captions, background music, and color correction”
- “Add a background music and make the video bright”
3. Set output options
Configure the output before clicking Start editing:
- Duration — Auto (let Rendley decide), 15s, 30s, 60s, 90s, or 180s
- Resolution — 720p, 1080p, or 4K
- Aspect ratio — 16:9, 9:16, or 1:1
4. Style Notes
Click the Style notes icon (equaliser icon next to the + button) to add optional style guidance that applies across all edits. Use this to define a consistent visual style, tone, or branding rules for the output.
5. Start editing
Click Start editing. The edit is sent to Rendley for processing. The edited video appears in the Recent Videos grid below once the render completes.
Recent Videos
The Recent Videos grid shows all previous edit sessions with their instruction text and timestamp. Click Select All to select multiple videos for bulk actions. Each video card shows the edit description and how long ago it was generated.
Admin Controls
All Auto Edit Videos settings are managed at Admin → Settings → Auto Edit Videos:
- Rendley API Key — The API key used to connect to Rendley. Click Test connection after entering to verify the key is valid.
- Public media URL — A CDN or public mirror prefix used by Rendley to download uploaded files. Leave empty when your site is publicly reachable. Required only for staging, intranet, or private environments.
- Auto edit endpoint — The MCP endpoint Rendley uses for the auto edit agent (default: mcp.rendley.com/v1/agent). Leave empty to use the default. Override only if Rendley changes the agent URL.
Click Save after making any changes.
